2016 Clearing & Settlement World 2016 Industry Benchmarking Report

Financial Europe is in the crux of post-trade regulatory implementation, and the resulting changes are transforming the world of clearing and settlement.

2017 looks to be a critical year for buy and sell side operations professionals; with T2S Wave in full swing, collateral requirements coming into effect and MiFID II preparation well underway.

This survey has been designed to offer an industry benchmark; revealing key challenges, strategies and priorities of buy-side institutions in the face of evolving financial regulation.

It has been completed by senior post-trade experts across clearing, settlement and collateral operations in both buy and sell-side institutions.

Financial Europe is in the crux of post-trade regulatory implementation, and the resulting changes are transforming the world of clearing and settlement. 2016 looks to be a critical year for buy and sell-side operations professionals; with T2S Wave 2 pending, demanding collateral requirements coming into effect, MiFID II preparations underway and the likelihood of the central clearing finally being mandated.

Optimising Cross-Asset Investment Operations

With asset managers attributing a growing importance to obtaining a more consolidated view of the portfolio, investment management systems are having to be redefined as a result. Access to accurate, real-time data, renewed consideration of insourcing over outsourcing, and the continued consolidation of the front, middle and back offices are all components of the overall change that these investment and data management platforms are having to face.

In Q2 of 2017 WBR Digital & SimCorp surveyed 100 Heads of Investment Operations based in Europe. The research prioritised buy side firms, including Asset Management firms, Hedge Funds, Institutional Investors etc. The survey was conducted by appointment over the telephone. The results were compiled and anonymized and presented here with analysis and commentary from SimCorp and the WBR Digital research team.
